It's easy to get caught up in 'tomorrow' or the pressures of things that need to be done. I find being mindful of the present has really helped me focus on making progress rather than the overwhelming about of work that lies ahead.
To stay present, I focus on my breathing - take a few deep breaths in and focus on how my breath feels. I then take a mental scan of how my body feels from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.
Switching attention to your body helps you get out of your thoughts and mind. When you return you'll notice what you are thinking about a lot clearer.
I think it's also a great way to catch yourself procrastinating - and find a way to stop it.
Deep breaths, stretch and ask yourself some questions - out loud, "What am I doing? Why am I doing this? What am I thinking about right now? How is this affecting my mood?"
